Knossos
Departure from your hotel takes place at a suggested time of around 09:00 in the morning, heading to the famous archaeological site of Knossos. The journey takes approximately two hours, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Cretan landscape along the way. If you wish, a short stop of approximately 15 minutes can be made at a location of your choice for a rest or photos.
Upon arriving at Knossos, you will have approximately two to two and a half hours to explore one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece and the centre of Minoan civilisation. You can tour the site with the help of a professional guide, who can be hired on site, or visit independently, discovering the impressive palace complex, the frescoes and the history connected to the myth of King Minos and the Labyrinth.
We then head towards the city of Heraklion, where you will have approximately three hours of free time to explore the most important sights of the city. You can visit the renowned Heraklion Archaeological Museum, which houses unique exhibits from the Minoan civilisation and finds originating from Knossos and other significant archaeological sites across Crete.
During your time in the city, you can also walk through the historic centre, visit the Venetian fortress of Koules at the old harbour and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of the traditional market. There you will find many cafés, restaurants and local shops, where you can relax over a coffee or sample authentic Cretan flavours over a pleasant lunch.
After completing your sightseeing and free time in Heraklion, we begin the return journey to your hotel, filled with wonderful memories and experiences from the history and culture of Crete.
